The Erie Canal- Vol. 2: Perspectives at 200

PRE-ORDER

The completion of the Erie Canal in October of 1825 marked a seminal moment in the history of the United States and was hailed as an amazing engineering accomplishment. This story of progress and technological achievement is the traditional one, but the story of the Grand Canal is far more complex, and in some cases, far less positive.

As we pass through the bicentennial of the canal’s completion, the second and final volume in our Erie Canal series, in partnership with the Buffalo Maritime Center, continues our multi-perspective look at the canal on the occasion of its bicentennial.  Over 120 pages, authored by a panel of subject matter experts and lavishly illustrated, provide inspiration for further exploration as well as a model for the consideration of the many other complex events in our shared history.

(Book release scheduled for June 2025 and pre-orders will ship at that time.)
