The first week of January 2018 ushered in the new year with frigid temperatures and wind chill readings. And Western New York made national headlines – not for lake effect snow, but for the frozen splendor of Niagara Falls. As locals know, while the Falls have rarely frozen over in the past, the mist generated by the cataract transforms the trees and surrounding landscape into a winter wonderland – if you can stay outside long enough to enjoy it.
